| Closer Still Closer Still is a series of digital prints derived from frames of recent video works. While working with video, Imants focuses on the images in-between and amongst the frames as they flicker by at thirty frames per second. Through extensive manipulations, these still video frames become images that rise far beyond the typical still frame. Though frozen in time they continue to express fluidity and movement. Vibrant colors, organic shapes, and bits of text are used to explore ideas of biology, perception, interaction and symbiosis. While digging into the depths of the elusive video frame, magnifying and molding artifacts into art, Imants explores the space between traditional techniques and cutting edge practices. |
